He was married to Isabella Binder (later Isabelle) on June 29 1946. She was born on December 2 1925 and died in February 1976. Isabelle was the daughter of William Binder (1883 PA) and Bertha Lindline (1885 PA) of Philadelphia.
Thomas and Isabelle were the parents of one son, Thomas White (1955-1994) and one daughter, Jackie (1951-2013).
Thomas was six years old when his father died. He and his brother were sent to Girard College for Boys in Philadelphia. After he graduated, Tom worked briefly as a furniture wood working apprentice at A. L. Diament & Company on South Street. He later worked as a ship fitter's helper at Cramp's Shipbuilding Company on Richmond Street. He then joined the United States Army Air Forces. He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne during World War II. Tom fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded at Bastogne and received a Purple Heart. When he returned to Philadelphia he attended the Manhattan Technical Institute, studying drawing and machine design. He wanted to obtain a position at Westinghouse Electric in Lester, Pennsylvania, but ended up working for General Bag and Burlap Company.
He was the only one of Bob and Bertha's children to live in the city of Philadelphia almost his entire life. His wife Isabelle died in 1978. Tom eventually found a loving companion, Flo, with whom he spent many happy years living in the Pocono Mountains. Tom enjoyed fishing and taking walks. He also liked working on crossword puzzles.
His companion Florence M. Wierzbowski (March 23 1927-Aug 8 1992 Bucks Co. PA) also predeceased him. Her husband may have been Edward or Leonard. Tom moved back to Philadelphia to live with his daughter before spending his final years in a nursing home.
