Edith Vis, 77, of Rock Valley, died Friday, February 17, 2006 at her home.
Funeral Service will be 2 pm Tuesday at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery. Reverend Aldon Kuyper will officiate.
Visitation will be Monday until 4 pm at Porter Funeral Home and then with family 6-8 pm Monday at Trinity Christian Reformed Church.
Edith Berdine Vis was born July 6, 1928 to Dick and Florence (Anema) Te Slaa in Hull, IA. The family lived in Perkins, Hull and Doon.
Edith was united in marriage to Gerald Vis on October 18, 1950 and moved to Rock Valley.
She started working at Kooima Manufacturing Company and continued for over 30 years.
The last several years, she helped with disabled children and was a foster parent to several Hope Haven young people.
Edith was a charter member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, puzzles and especially spending time with family and friends.
Edith is survived by 4 children: Larry (Mary) Vis of Rock Valley, Dennis (Karen) Vis of Minneapolis, Lorna (Darwin) Tiedeman of Hull, IA, Marcia Vis of Overland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Bernard (Theresa) Te Slaa of Rock Valley, Marvin (Dee) Te Slaa of Cutlerville, MI, Leroy (Vi) Te Slaa of Rock Valley; sister, Norma Baartman of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Marlene Te Slaa of Rock Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Vis; her parents; 3 brothers: Raymond Te Slaa and infant twins
