Raymond Te Slaa, 72, of Rock valley died Saturday, April 1, of an apparent heart attack at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvin Christian Reformed Church at Rock Valley with the Rev. Roger Sparks officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Te Slaa was born June 5, 1927, at Hull, the son of Dick and Florence (Anema) Te Slaa.

He married Marlene Altena on July 8, 1952, at Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Garretson, South Dakota, for 10 years before moving back to Rock Valley, where he worked for Kooima Manufacturing for 35 years.

He was also a custodian at Calvin Christian Reformed Church for 31 years.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War from January 1951 to July 1952.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Harvey and Marlene of Manhattan, Montana, and Floyd and Robin of Rock Valley; a daughter and her husband, Evalou and Rick De Kam of Rock Valley; three brothers and their wives, Bernard and Theresa of Rock Valley, Marv and Dee of Cutlerville, Michigan, and Leroy and Vi of Rock Valley; two sisters, Edith Vis of Rock Valley and Norman Baartman of Sioux Falls; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Vernon Jay Te Slaa; two infant brothers; and his parents.
