Professional poker player. He was among the first seven players at the World Series of Poker Main Event in 1970 along with Doyle Brunson, Thomas "Amarillo Slim" Preston, Walter "Puggy" Pearson, Carl Cannon and Crandell Addington. He was one of the charter inductees into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1979.

Moss was born on May 14, 1907, in Marshall, Texas and grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he learned how to gamble as a young boy. As a teenager, he was hired by a local card room to keep cheaters out.

Moss won the 1970, 1971 and 1974 World Series of Poker Main Events. For the 1970 Main Event, Moss was elected the winner by the other players and received a silver cup as his prize. Beginning in 1971 all events were played until one player won all of the chips.

He played at every WSOP from 1970 through 1995 winning a total of nine WSOP bracelets.
