Mrs. John Sampson had been enjoying her usual good health up to Aug 19 when she in some unknown manner injured her thigh bone. She was taken to Good Samaritan hospital at Rugby where the best of medical aid was given here but to no avail,for the angel of death mercifully relieved her suffering.
Martha Rekve was born July 13, 1838, at Voss Norway. She emigrated to Stoughton, Wis., in the year of 1860. On Jan. 15,1861, she was united in marriage to John Sampson of Deerfield, Wis., coming to Pleasant Valley the same year. Seven children were born to this union, Anna, Sam, Samuil, Charlie, Clara, Carrie and Lucy. After the death of her husband she resided with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Sampson led a Christian life and in time of need stood ready to give every assistance needed.
Those left to mourn her loss are: Mrs. Tom Donnelly and Mrs. C.A. Sorensen, of Upham, No. Dak., Charlie Sampson of Lashburn, Sask., Can., several grand children and great grandchildren and other relatives. The husband, two sons and two daughters preceded her in death.
On August 30th, the funeral procession gathered at the Geo. Wall home where the remains had been taken to. Funeral services were held from the Woodside church, Rev. Nordby and Rev. Lee officiating. Burial being made in the North Rush River cemetery beside her husband.
