"On Thursday, August 4, occured the death of John Sampson at his home in the town of Pleasant Valley.
Deceased was born March 9, 1826, at Rognes, near Haugesund, Norway and immigrated to this country in 1856, first coming to Dane county, this state.
In 1863 he came to St. Croix Co and located on a farm in Rush River, where he has since resided.
Mr. Sampson was one of our old pioneers as his forth-seven years of residence in the county will testify. He leaves a wife and five children: S.O. Sampson, Mrs. Thos. Donnelly and Mrs.C.A. Sorenson of Upham, ND., Mrs. John Legrid, Deer Park and C.M. Sampson, Holland, Canada, besides fourteen grand children and two great-great-grand children who have the sympathy of all during their bereavement.
he funeral services were held Monday at the North Rush River church, Rev.
Rosenqvist officiating.
