Due to all the conflicts of linking back to G-Grandpa Peter's family I had my DNA run It appears my G-Grandpa Peter was never documented in the family history books.

The Roush/Rausch family historians are working on documenting Grandpa Pete's line.

Swearingen family

Thank God DNA has evolved.

My DNA also links back to the following:

Michael Pence (1738 - 1799)
Sybilla Isabella Frye and Pence Davidson (1751 - 1857)

Johannes Adam Roush/Rausch (1711 - 1786)
Susannah Sehler Roush (1713 - 1796)

Peter Johan Pence (1768 - 1832)*
Susannah Roush Pence (1770 - 1851)

Johann Ludwig Zirkle (1705 - 1747)
Maria Eva Bear Zirkle (1709 - 1771)

1852-1915 Mary Elizabeth Pence
1854-1931 Augustus Pence

1870-____ Laura C Pence - Twin 2 Thought to be December
____-____ Peter Pence Jr buried beside his parents in Ratcliff Cemetery, Carter, Kentucky death before 1870

Son Joseph Pence's Wedding License says Peter was born in Ohio and Elizabeth was born in Virginia. I trust the marriage certificate. FAG removed the marriage license.

He is believed to be a descendant of Michael Pence of Shenandoah County, Virginia, and Adams County, Ohio.

Memorial Day every year, all of Grandpa Joe and Annie's (living) children and most of their children would go back to Carter, Kentucky. This continued for many years. I am a great-great grandchild and still remember and was a part of the tradition.

We would meet 1st at the Davis-Horsley Cemetery, afterwards we would go to the Ratcliff cemetery, and end up at the Oakland Cemetery. It was a family thing we did. As a child I can still remember being showed who was buried where, when, and stories about their lives.

Grandpa Pete and Grandma Lizzie as she was called (also my grandmother was called Lizzie) have unmarked headstones.

They have unmarked headstones because over time the weather wore the information off their stones and the farmer behind the cemetery used to let his cows loose into the cemetery.

Then we would go to Oakland cemetery

Afterwards we would all go to Carter Caves.

Some records show Grandpa Peter as:

this is a wrong
Peter Pence
birth: 1824
death: 25 February 1891 Licking County, Oh

marriage: about 1851
Straight Creek, Carter, Kentucky

his Father: Abraham Pence
his Mother: Susannah / Susan Woods
his Marriage: 22 April 1819 Licking, Ohio

This is a wrong Peter because:

Grandma Elizabeth (Lizzie) died of cancer,
she was a widow at her time of death in January of 1877

And as a family we all used to visit their graves in Ratcliff Cemetery, Carter Kentucky.

I have family pictures showing this tradition.
