GREENEVILLE, TENN.- Sophia King, 100, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her home in Greeneville, Tenn.
Sophia was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cullis and Margaret Rice; husband, Chester King; sons, Shad and Pender King; daughters, Jerda McCarter and Catherine Haney; two sisters, four brothers and four grandchildren.
Sophia is survived by her children, Mary (Jackie) Tullock of Raleigh, NC, Margaret Cole of Sevierville, Tenn., Alberta (Phil) Jeffers and Paul (Fern) King all of Greeneville, Tenn., Patsy (John) Jones of Knightdale, NC, Eldridge King of Greeneville, Tenn., Emmerson "Bo" (Linda) King of Marshall, L. C. (Susie) King of Hot Springs; sisters, Porshia Cutshall and Neater Holland both of Greeneville; brother, Clyde Rice of Marshall; a special granddaughter, Kay Abshire; thirty-one grandchildren; numerous great, great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Reverends Jimmy Dean Hensley and E. J. Swatzell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Madison Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church prior to the service.
