Catherine James Shoaf, 94, formerly of North Mebane Street, Burlington died at Alamance Health Care Center on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 11:50 p.m.
A native of Durham, she was the wife of the late W. Graham Shoaf and the daughter of Walter Nelson James and Caroline Jones James, both deceased. She was a retired supervisor from Maro Corporation. Mrs. Shoaf was a member for over 70 years at Front Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one son, Jim Shoaf and wife Julia, of Lexington, N.C.; two daughters, Betty S. Davis of Point Blank, Texas and Melinda G. Shoaf of Carrboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Monti Shoaf, Melinda Waddell, Karen DeSilva and Stephanie Ferguson; two stepgrandchildren, Ross Kepley and Scott Kepley; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, A. Wayne Davis; three brothers, Woodrow James, William Henry James and Thomas James; and four sisters, Nettie J. Ward, Anniebelle Jobe, Mary Cook and Ruth Rembert.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Marshall Old.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
