DANVILLE, Va. — Wanza Hall Kirkman, 81, formerly of 642 Arnett Blvd., died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Lewis Gayle Hospital in Salem after five years of declining health and more than one month in the hospital.
Born Sept. 13, 1920, in Princeton, W.Va., she was a daughter of Mose McCllan Hall and Maude Mae Pettry Hall.
She was married in October 1958 to Thomas Virtie Kirkman, who predeceased her Sept. 11, 1995. She moved from Roanoke in 1960 to Danville, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where she was past president of Circle 3, and served as treasurer. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include one son, Larry L. Venable of Fredricksburg; one brother, Bobby R. Hall of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Betty H. Wolfe of Salem; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased, in addition to her husband and parents, by one sister, Ruth H. Lawrence.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Rev. Tom Barnard and the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
