He was the son of John William and Harriett Caldonia "Hattie" (Reed) Caldwell and married Verna Mae Collins - 21 Dec 1924 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. His obituary follows:

Final Rites Conducted This Morning For Malvern Caldwell, 68 --

Funeral services for Malvern Caldwell, 68, of 309 North Bellview Avenue, Fayetteville, were held at 10:30 this morning at Ralston Chapel with Rev. Loyd Noble and Dr. Wayne Wiman officiating. Burial was in Medium Cemetery near Delina.

Mr. Caldwell died Tuesday in the Lincoln County Hospital after a short illness.

He was a native of Lincoln County and was a son of the late J. W. and Hattie Reed Caldwell. He was a member of the Boonshill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Caldwell was a farmer in the Boonshill community and retired about 5 1/2 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Verna Collins Caldwell, Fayetteville; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry Stevenson, Mrs. James O'Neal, and Mrs. Stanley Pirtle, all of Fayetteville, and Paul Bradford, Smyrna, Tennessee; one son, Lester Caldwell, Tullahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Short, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Mrs. Daisy Arney, Boonshill; and nine grandchildren.
