"Colleagues honor late Judge Gerofsky"
New Jersey Justice Robert Clifford, Somerset and Middlesex Superior Court judges and members of bar associations in both counties yesterday attended a ceremony in the Somerset Courthouse honoring the late Leon Derofsky of Bedminster, who retired in 1975 as Middlesex assignment judge.
A Former Somerset prosecutor and county judge there, Gerofsky died Oct. 30 at 76 on the way to Somerset Medical Center after being stricken with a heart attack.
The bar associations of both counties presented a portrait of Gerofsky to the somerset freeholders to hang in the courthouse. The presentation follows a custom established earlier this year when the Somerset judiciary and bar association gave the county a portrait of the late George Y. Schoch of Trenton, who had been Somerset's assignment judge.
