Oh Squeak. My only "true" stray. I am never temped to pick up stray animals (I know I can't save them all) but when I first looked into that little orange and white face, I knew there was no point in resisting. I found him in the parking lot at work in 1999 and he just stole my heart. In 2009 I found out he had colon cancer. He went to surgery and got chemo for the next 8 months until he developed heart disease due to the chemo. He lived another 6 months and did very well, until his cancer came back and he told me by the look on his face that it was time to stop. Now my heart was broken. Even now as I write this, over 2 years later, I start to cry and miss his "Squeak Hugs". Those "Squeak Hugs" never failed to make my day better.
Sitting at my computer without him on my lap or laying on the back of chair hanging over my shoulder is something I don't think I will ever get used to.
Photos:
Top: The day I brought him home after surgery. It was a long week for both of us.
2nd: Hair was all grown back for the first time since surgery...10 months later. Getting chemo for 8 months didn't allow his hair, that was shaved for surgery, iv catheters(for chemo) and routine ultrasounds, to grow back. After he developed heart disease, the chemo had to stop. You can tell in this picture that he had no whiskers:-(
3th: Chicago, Pauley, Goof and Squeak-they are all now together again
4th: Squeak as a kitten-what a cutie pie!
5th: During chemo, he had alot of lazy days! That was OK.
