This rural cemetery is located off Hwy 7 in a pasture. The graves are scattered among trees. Some headstones exist and are legible. The land is a little overgrown as Preservation Texas is planning to keep the area with native grasses in a prairie environment. One small privately fenced area contains a sign on the gate with Guy Williams Family name in metal. This property was the site of a Freedmen's community. In 2019 there were 106 documented burials in this graveyard.

From: Marlin travel East on Hwy 7 until you the highway sign pointing to the cemetery. The cemetery is located about 1/3 mile off the road and is on private property and cannot be accessed without permission. It is not visible from the road.

Hopewell Cemetery is a 2.1 acre burial ground situated on a 16-acre tract initially purchased by Henry Jefferson (1836-1888) in 1875. The earliest marked graves date from the mid-1880s. At the turn of the 20th century, all of Henry Jefferson's property, including the cemetery, was sold to a neighboring landowner, Mrs. Hattie Ford (Pope) Bassett (1851-1936). The 2,400-acre Bassett property was bequeathed to Preservation Texas in 2012. Preservation Texas manages the cemetery site as part of its Bassett Farms Conservancy.
