Photos

This small cemetery was created for the burial of workers who died during the construction of Lake James. Most of the graves were later moved, but those still listed here lie somewhere near the Linville Dam. Due to later construction, the area is no longer accessible. At least one of the men listed as being buried in "Construction" was actually entombed within the dam, as it was not possible to remove him without risking more lives. The others lie within the soil of Burke and deserve to be remembered if not visited.
