William R. McKinney and his wife, Letha Caroline "Lettie" Blackburn McKinney, came here from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, about 1856, settled and built a log cabin. They had at least two children, Robert and Sarah, both of whom were buried in this cemetery.
Also, Henry Welty, who settled on the north side of the Brazos, was buried in this cemetery after he was killed by Comanche Indians on 5 April 1863. Welty was buried by George R. Bevers and several others.
