Add PhotosLocation: About 5 1/2 miles from Franklin on Route N.C. # 28 leading toward Highlands. Located on the Sellers farm.
Condition: This marker is on the bank of Sugarfork river, under some large trees; near the mouth of Ellijay Creek
On the hill a few hundred yards from this memorial we find two large mounds of stone, the largest about 20 x_30 feet, and-is supposed to be the burying ground where all the Indians are buried that were killed in this Battle of 1782 when Corporal White was killed. These mounds of stone are only about 100 yds, from home of a Mrs. Sellers residence and she has never allowed anyone·to disturb them. She is 84 years old and has lived on this farm all her life, About two miles this side of these Indian graves there is a marker near highway # 28 with the following wording.
"In the French and Indian war, Col. Grants force of Whites, Chickasaws and Catawbas defeated the Cherokee Warriors near here. June 1761.
