Mishoe Cemetery
Allsbrook, Horry County, South Carolina, USA
This cemetery is within an "island" of trees in a plowed field on private property, and not accessible without permission from the owner. It is circular and approximately 40' in diameter. Grant Mishoe was instrumental in identifying this burial ground, researching deeds to determine the property owner, and initially contacting the owner of this land. Grant met the owner and was permitted to go to the cemetery, but was not able to get close enough to see the grounds. In March 2014, Adam Emrick, Sr. Planner, Horry County Board of Architectural Review, was able to follow up by contacting the property owner and obtaining permission for documenting the burials with photographs and gps equipment. Adam and two others, Susan Perhala and Jody Mishoe, went to the property to photograph and gps. Only two stones were found, one readable (Levie Mishoe), the other so weather worn one could only guess a date of June 2? on the stone. The remaining graves were marked with wooden markers or white pvc pipes.
We are grateful to the property owner that he honored the deceased buried here by preserving this area, this burial ground which was lost to so many researchers.
