Battle of Fishing Creek, also called the Battle of Catawba Ford, or the War on Sugar Creek, was an American Revolutionary Battle, on August, 18, 1780, fought north of Great Falls, between American Patriots and British Forces, including the 71st Foot, in Camden District, South Carolina, in today's Chester County, South Carolina, coordinates 34.28.6 N, 80.54.21 W. The battle was fought near the junction of Fishing Creek and the Catawba River in South Carolina, about 40 miles from Camden. During the battle, 150 of Colonel Thomas SUMTER's men were cut to pieces and about 350 men were captured.
