Over the next few decades, even those few stones disappeared from sight. "The superintendent of Bowdoin Farm staked out the area believed to have been the cemetery prior to soil mining in the early 1950s." The area became part of the proposed site for a wastewater treatment facility, so in 1979, an archaeological survey was begun. "The presence of rectangular soil stains at the base of the blow zone with associated chipped limestone slabs in the documented location of the Lawson Family Cemetary has been demonstrated in this field study." The smaller soil stain "...was probably the burial of a small child or infant;" however, "these stains were not excavated and no human skeletons were exposed during this investigation." As a result of this survey, plans for the wastewater facility were drawn to protect the burial site.
The Lassen [Lassingh] family held the cemetery and the land surrounding it until 1751. Lassen family burials here began with Pieter Lassen and continued until 1767 when Mary Lassen was buried. Other people continued to be buried here until at least 1794. Over forty-five (45) people including Pieter Lassen [Lassingh] are buried here.
