Long Graves

The old cemetery books published in 1985 by the Bosque County Historical Commission designated the grave site as "Long-Hill Graves." There is no indication any Hill people are buried on this site. However, the name may come from the fact that one of the Long daughters, Mary S Long married Dr. Wm. Rutliff Hill, whose parents had land adjacent to the Longs.
The photo attached shows the old homeplace; note the chimney standing and an old house in the background. The photo on the cemetery page and on Nancy Ann Long's memorial were taken by Long descendants Michael and Shellie Burrow, who tracked down the site and with the owner's permission and guidance found the one marker at the site in the pasture. This site is on private property adjacent to State Highway 6 and CR 3115, approximately seven miles north of Valley Mills in Bosque County Texas.
