Add Photos"This large family cemetery was located east of Ridge Road and north of Gettysburg Road (Training Area 42) in what was Tract G-109 owned by J.B. Cosby Jr. et ux. in 1944 (see
Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map and included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to Butterwood Church where 51 individuals are
listed: Fannie E. Thomas, Bush Thomas, Lee Hawthorne, Hawthorne Infant, Eliza Hawthorne, L.B. Hawthorne, Betty Blackswell, Mary E. Bridgeforth, John G. Powell, America Powell, Cattie Hamlin, Mary A. Sheffield, Algienon W. Powell, Joseph M. Powell, Algerman Powell, Annie D. Powell, Joseph M. Powell, W.B. Powell, Sterling Lambert, Bennie Powell, Johnie Powell, William Powell, Sara Powell, Mary Francis Powell, Sallie Powell and 26 Unknown individuals (Godburn 1977: G-10). The disturbance from the construction of Camp Pickett in this area was very heavy and it is likely that all traces of this cemetery have been completely erased. The exact location of
this former cemetery has not been identified at the time of this survey."
