Add Photos"These family cemeteries were located east of Cherry Tree Road and south of Route 40 within the controlled access danger area of Fort Pickett and in what was Tract E-391
owned by James W. Mikeal et ux. in 1944 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). They are both (cemetery A and B) marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map and a "Grammar" cemetery
from this tract is included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to Butterwood Church where an Unknown 10 individuals are listed (Godburn 1977: G-5). However,
Godburn's list does not distinguish between Cemetery A and B so it is not known which (possibly both?) was moved to Butterwood. It is quite possible that one was moved to
Butterwood and the other to Gills Bridge although there are no Gills Bridge metal markers indicating reburial from "Grammar" (see Table 5). The location of this cemetery
had not been verified at the time of this survey."
