Add Photos"This family cemetery was west of Military Road and north of West Entrance Road in what is now the cantonment area of Fort Pickett but formerly was Tract B-66 owned the
Richard Epps Jr. Estate in 1944 (see Table 1 and Figure 1). It is marked as "relocated" on the 1944 map but not included on Godburn's list of cemeteries relocated to
Butterwood Church (Godburn 1977: Appendix G). Information on the metal markers at Gills Bridge list 3 individuals as having been relocated there from this cemetery: John Epps, Sarah Gavie and 1 Unknown individual (see Table 5). The roads in the vicinity of this cemetery have been heavily altered since 1944 making the exact location of this
cemetery hard to identify and the chance of it having been heavily impacted by Camp Pickett's development is significant. The location of this cemetery had not been verified at the time of this survey."
