Mother's maiden name; Miller's arrived in 1600-early 1700's from Ireland by way of Scotland. Impressive group among all of the families settled around western Spartanburg County. Miller, Alexander, Anderson, Moore, Snotty, Orr families were a few. In regards to basic human rights (that includes civil) they were outspoken about the matters they opposed, unafraid to face tyranny yet again. A tragic lesson many still have yet to still learn.
