Lester Layton Johnston, 80, of Vaughan, died Sunday SWeptember 2, 2007.Funeral services were M onday at Ellison United Methodist Church with Rev. Grady Bailey officiating. Burial followed at Ellison Cemetery.A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War 11, Mr. Johnston was born On Feb. 17, 1927 to Edward Jordan and Lela Viola Johnston. He later Worked in retail sales. He was a member of Ellison United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Craig.Survivors include a son, Phillip E. Johnston of Colliersville, Tenn.; a sister Eunice Culipher of Canton; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Serving as pallbearers wsere Doug Johnston, James Hubert Johnston Jr., Wll Alexander, Denton Johnston, Jeremy Echols, and Jim Alexander.Funeral arrangements were handled by Stricklin-King Funeral Home.Yazoo HeraldSeptember 5, 2007.
