Aviation - KLM Flight 4805 / Pan Am Flight 1736

The deadliest aviation disaster in history occurred on Sunday, March 27, 1977, at the Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport) on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain, when two Boeing 747 passenger airliners collided on the runway. The collision resulted in 583 fatalaties, including all the passengers and crew of the KLM Flight 4805, and all but 56 passengers and 4 crewmembers of Pan Am Flight 1736.
