Bio

I created this page in hopes of locating family members of the deceased buried in this cemetery.
The majority of the families buried here are from Guanajuato, Mexico who were laborers for the Ashcrafts and other surrounding original settled farmers in Maxwell, TX from 1910 to the 1950s but few are from surrounding areas around Maxwell.

My Grandfather lived and worked on the land right outside the cemetery in a home still present on the land from 1917 when he came from his hometown Cerrito De Jerez, Leon Guanajuato, MX till the middle of the 1950's when my family moved to Lockhart. It has since collapsed but the water trough my family used to use and their home structure still sits right outside the cemetery gates near the dirt road. We have several immediate family members and distant cousins and many of my grandfather's friends buried here. I grew up emersed in the history of this cemetery going on the majority of my life 35 years and know there are a whole lot more of the pieces I am missing that may fit everything I know from my grandfather. He up kept this cemetery till the day he died in 2010 at the young age of 103 years old.

The land is privately owned by a new owner/developer. Who we need permission and gate code to get onto the property. If you have a loved one here please reach out to me. My family has a long-standing history in this cemetery and we want to preserve as much of its history as we can with the hopes one day we can provide access to the public for those families who still wish to visit their loved ones. The Rocha family has been providing the upkeep out of their own pockets but my parents are now elderly themselves and can no longer upkeep the cemetery without help. We have reached out to the county before and they helped ONCE before with jailed community service volunteers from the Community Service Restitution Program in 2004. We were told now the program is suspended and we have had no help since. It is in dire need of cutting and mowing but with care because storms and flooding have brought up pieces of wooden coffins and knocked over headstones and we still want to preserve all that belongs in the cemetery with minimal damage to the already damaged. I am also working with the Texas Historical Commission to get this Historical cemetery plaque to save it from any new developments. I need people who care and verify they have relatives buried here to keep this cemetery.

Please reach out to me. I have been doing research on the deceased since 2005 I have numerous records of the deceased over 300+ that I have verified and gathered I will slowly put in some much-needed time into updating those records here. Hopefully, your family members are some that are listed.

Also buried here are several Woodsmen of the World and their headstones have since been knocked down and damaged by floods and previous land owners' cattle.
