I grew up knowing about some of my lines of family thanks to prior family members keeping documents and research. Unfortunately, it was mainly only the ones in our area in central Texas. But every time we went on a trip out of state my dad had us stopping at multiple court houses and cemeteries. Some of my earliest memories are wandering around graveyards looking for grave stones. I didn't discover this site until after my dads passing and I was missing him and wanted to look him up and found this site. He would have loved this site, he used to spend weekends and hours on micro film at libraries all over the place dragging me with him :) . I actually found a missing 1st cousin through this site that I reconnected with after only a month on here and had no idea about them and now I talk to on the regular! I really appreciate the work done on here and just the ability to what used to take forever now is just clicks away. My oldest son is a history buff and has been getting into genealogy and we now spend time together researching our family which has become a bonding thing. Any how, this is a great site/tool for finding you're roots and learning about your ancestors and even finding family connections to reconnect with.
