Bio

I got interested in genealogy about 20 years ago when I discovered the internet. Ancestry.com was $29.95 for the year when I joined. My cousin and aunt had done some work on our family, so I had about 600 names to start with.
My goal was to get my ancestors to the ocean. I've never had any interest in searching overseas.
I met my current husband online. He has the same surname as my mother. He was widowed. I was 20 years divorced when we married. We bought a motorhome and have roamed the South for the past 15 years, visiting courthouses, churches, graveyards, even knocking on people's doors. We've loved every minute of it.
I'm a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and of the DRT (Daughters of the Republic of Texas). I've been registrar for my DRT chapter for four years and enjoy helping prospective members document their ancestors as much as I enjoy documenting mine.
I firmly believe that genealogy without sources is mythology. I work very had at making clear to those I share my work with the difference in the things I know and the things I think.
I look forward to being a member of findagrave.
