When I see something that I feel interesting I post it to the FindAGrave memorials like newspapers clippings & credit the newspaper, death certificates, pictures of funeral brochures, and anything of tributes. Newspaper.com, BeenVerified, and Fold3.com also wonderful tools in researching. I get the LOVE of genealogy from my Mom's side of the family. I enjoy connecting with extended family, other peoples families, and reading about their lives past/present. I HELP people in my professional life and I HELP people doing genealogy in my personal life. So basically I spend most of my life helping folks out. My Mom always volunteered going to old cemeteries scrubbing headstones and now that I am older I actually understand why she did it. My Mom is the GENEALOGIST in our family and not me. SHOUT OUT TO PEOPLE THAT LOVE GENEALOGY: Since I have been doing research on my own extended family I found a 4th cousin that had my great grandfather's birth certificate from 1910, handwritten love letters of my great great grandparents that are over 133 years old before marriage, handwritten 131 years old sermons of great great grandfather, pictures that are over 100 years old of extended family members, and pictures of my great grandparents that no one in my immediate family has seen. Thanks to extended family members that crossed over/passed away before me THAT SIMPLY LOVED GENEALOGY and never once "CLAIMED TO BE A GENEALOGIST" that passed these items through my family so we can share and ENJOY THEM TODAY! I AM STANDING ON THEIR SHOULDERS-I AM STANDING ON SHOULDERS OF GIANTS. I have hundreds of pictures of my family thanks to 4th & 3rd cousins that physically mailed them to me or emailed them to me. Since I have been on FindAGrave I have learned some memorials are manage by people that are more into "CONTROL, THEIR LARGE NUMBER OF MEMORIALS, SELF GLORIFICATION, AND LOOKING FOR AN ARGUMENT"-the manager has lost site on the goal of preserving the memorial about the person that crossed over/passed away. On the manager's bio information they claim not to be RUDE BUT THEY ARE. They claim not to be just into numbers BUT THEY ARE. They refuse to link children to parents, refuse to link spouses, they don't respond to edits or they decline them when the information is correct off of old census, obituaries, and Ancestry.com

DECLINING SIMPLE EDITS THAT ARE CORRECT. They are justifying their actions by declining simple edits saying "VERIFY & RESUBMIT" - DEMANDING us to prove to them a simple edit when they can get on Ancestry/newspaper.com and find out for themselves. All they want on the memorials is the information off the headstone and nothing else when everyone knows sometimes that information is incorrect or not complete. These FindAGrave managers have memorials that are in the thousands. . . . . . . They have so many that they have duplicates of the same person and the memorial manager doesn't even know it. Many times I had to notify FindAGrave and have them merged the two memorials together. The memorial manager REFUSES to transfer management of a memorial when asked when they aren't related and when they have thousands upon thousands of memorials . . . .
They DON'T post their emails/they DON'T allow or accept messages on their message boards BUT think it's alright for them to leave snarky messages on other FindAGrave member's messages boards, emails, and when declining simple edits they leave snarky messages on that email function through FindAGrave-DOUBLE STANDARDS! THEY DON'T POST THEIR EMAILS AND DON'T ACCEPT MESSAGES-DOUBLE STANDARDS!

If this happens to you first turn them into FindAGrave. Then go back into the memorial and post a flower to the memorial stating the information you sent as an edit and nicely say the manager decline to accept this simple edit that was easily verified off of old census, obituaries, an on Ancestry. We shouldn't have to JUMP THROUGH HOOPS or DANCE to these SELF GLORIFIED NARCISSIST memorial managers. They need to do their job or simply transfer the memorial.

I understand they might have set up the memorial in the BEGINNING but keep in mind if we all were RETIRED and did nothing other than walk cemeteries, sit behind a computer read an obituary & check to see if a person wasn't set up then set them up- then no one would actually hold down a job, get their bills paid, and everyone's memorial manager numbers would be very large! Once I fully retire I would love to do that but even then I WOULDN'T MAKE DEMANDS OF OTHERS, DECLINE SIMPLE EDITS, LEAVE SNARKY MESSAGES, AND WOULD TRANSFER A MEMORIAL THATS NOT RELATED ME.
Every memorial I manage means something to me and they are not just another number. It saddens me to know that my family members that are BLOOD related to me and it doesn't matter how far back they are - are managed by a non family member that just wants CONTROL OVER THEM FROM THE GRAVE!! Yes, you might have set them up and did a good deed but transfer it to someone that WOULD LOVE, VALUE, AND TREASURE IT. The memorial is not just a number to them.
