Bio

My parents are Lou Anne Proctor Byars and William Conrad Byars, Sr.. Both of my parents grew up in Olympia mill village. I live in South Carolina and I am looking for information regarding my paternal grandmother's adoptive family as well as her natural siblings. My grandmother is Evelyn Walker Byars. Both of her parents and an older sister, Ruby, died within days of each other during the flu epidemic when Evelyn was a very young child. There were several other children living with the Walkers before the parents died. Two of the boys, Roy and Murray, went to boy's homes. Evelyn, along with her younger sister, was taken in by her paternal grandparents. Her grandfather died in a mill accident three years after she came to live with them. She was later adopted by the Raysors. I would like to learn more about the Raysors and what happened to any other siblings that survived the flu epidemic.
