Bio

My family names are: Taraczkozy, Herron, Seletyn, Rice, Webb, Contorchick, McCombie, Luther, Logan (and a few others).

(2018-10-11) I am in my second year as a member on this site. The first year I would read other people's memorials for clues to my genealogy research. In May 2018 I became very aware that people who added my family's memorials (for the most part) knew very little about their "human" side. Yes, they had the census data, the birth dates, the obits, etc. - the researchable numbers. But that is not a person's "human" side. I mean the stories, the photos, the person behind the data. I have been working to request management transfer for my immediate people (parents - grandparents - great grandparents). This week I visited several graves, picked up cemetery maps and began working in Publisher to create maps to the graves complete with photos of landmarks and cemetery street addresses, etc. This way, others who want to find the headstones will have an easier time than I did finding them. I have my great grandfather's map and headstone picture up - William Balint Taraczkozy (if you would like a look). I am working on his bio now so that will change in the days to come.

If you would like help doing similar for your loved ones' memorials - I would be happy to tell you how I worked on it and what seems to be the best approach. My messages are enabled. Send me a note and let's chat.

It is a relatively slow process but I feel like I am making progress. During my various hunts for stones through the cemeteries, I saw a number of interesting "non-family" stones (shape, name, inscription might have caught my eye). I will add those photos here and if family members of that person contact me, I will be happy to work on a transfer of memorial management to them.
