Bio

I enjoy documenting historical, abandoned and "old" graveyards- of which there are plenty in Connecticut, particularly Fairfield County. There are many small "family" burial grounds located along roads- even major roads like Route 7. Many are hidden in wooded property (nearly inaccessible) but there are also unexpected little plots at the edge of roads and so close to the road that they are "invisible" because adjacent property may be a strip mall, busy diner, parking lot or even a big box store! The grave markers are often in a very dilapidated condition and out of place. In Fairfield County business districts have smothered these once peaceful grounds. Fairfield County and Connecticut in general has many still peaceful, beautiful graveyards with burials going back as far as the 1700s. Many are adjacent to church property. Connecticut has no shortage of, and is notorious for several "haunted" graveyards which have been documented by "paranormal" TV shows, such as "A Haunting". Just about every town in Fairfield County has "colonial" grave sites, often as numerous as the stone walls that have been more or less well-maintained and may inter historially well-known people, witches and traitors, perhaps a few "vampires" even. Connecticut is home to numerous photogenic "country" cemeteries to wander around in, that are not at all "macabre". Then again, if you grow up around many colonial and old graveyards with red cedars and hundred plus year old oaks and beech trees you wouldn't consider graveyards as scary or macabre. Most parts of the US aren't populated with quite so many antique burial grounds as New England. I've always enjoyed documenting these silent reposes in pictures, which are particularly photogenic in fall and winter. If you are looking for or in need of photos for research or family history of grave sites and cemetery documentation or even just pictures (or video) of the subject matter for publication of a location in Connecticut, feel free to contact me. Perhaps I can be of help.
