Bio

My three siblings and I are the grandchildren of Arthur 'Artie' Auten (1892-1912) and Viola Blanche Borst (1883-1940). Our parents are Peter Samuel Perkuchin [Find A Grave Memorial# 184672513] and Hilda Phyllis Auten/Hickey/Perkuchin [Find A Grave Memorial# 164127411].

Arthur is our mother’s biological father [Find A Grave Memorial# 56097788]. PVT Arthur Auten, as a member of Company “B” 120th Machine Gun Battalion, embarked from Hoboken, N.J., to France on February 9, 1918, to enter the allies WWI battles. Arthur was "killed in action" at the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division battlefield in the region of Cantigny, France. He died on June 12, 1918 . Arthur is buried in Bony, France at the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial (Plot A Row 22 Grave 10). Arthur’s parents are Ora Lee Auten and Electa Niles Auten. His siblings are: Bessie Jane, Glen Oscar, Bert Nathan and Elizabeth Isabelle 'Lizzie'. Their births ranged from 1897 through 1910, respectively.

Viola is our mother’s biological mother [Find A Grave Memorial# 96310461]. Viola gave birth to my mother, Hilda Phyllis Auten, on April 23, 1918 in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan, USA. Prior to conceiving my mother with Arthur, Viola was married to Edward Smith and gave birth to six Smith children from 1903 through 1914, respectively. They are: Edgar Roger, Cecil James, Leo William, Mary L, Theodore Patrick, and Nellie Louise. Viola married Daniel Pardee on April 15 1919.

After Arthur's death, Hilda was adopted by Grace M 'Francisco' Hickey and Norman Henry Hickey before September 10, 1918. Hilda appears to be the only offspring of Arthur (this conjecture has not been confirmed).
