I have always been interested in family history and in history in general. I have become intensely interested in the back stories of particularly my parents and the generations preceding them. The stories are of movement to escape from tyranny, famine and/or to look for opportunity, success, sadness, wars (from the American Revolution through the French and Indian War to to Civil War (both sides), WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

There are lots of planters and farmers in the mix and many many physicians. There are a smattering of politicians and lawyers and a lot of just plain good folks.

My paternal side is McHenry-Benton. My maternal side is Herlong-Thedford.
