Bio

During the last few years, my family and I have gone through the loss of our home, business, & even family connections because of the greed of a dishonest step-parent and one of her daughters..

Since that unspeakable betrayal, I have learned a great deal about my family, especially my maternal grandmother's line, thanks to Geni, the LDS, & "Mega-Merge."

My maternal grandmother Alice Baird Kelly, through her father, Ezekiel Baird, was of royal descent. Our family's lines were used centuries ago to "clean" the lineage of Charlemagne. We are Salian Franks; our forebears founded France. I even know a good deal about the Romans with whom our Frankish generals, then kings, married. One Roman was Emperor at Constantinople, though the barbarity of that family is sickening.

Thus, I am related to every royal house in Europe (it's actually one big family, or it was until the time of The Great War). My mother's brother, fighting in France's trenches, was on ground his own kin civilized.

Through Find A Grave, I have learned the actual birth date of my paternal grandfather, Chris Sommers, who was born in Zürich, Switzerland, on September 16, 1846. I have also found the grave of my paternal grandparents' first child--a boy, who, as my grandmother wrote, "lived only one day." He was not named, though I do not know why.

There was a second son, Peter Christopher Sommers, who died in childhood, c. 1913. I have 2 photographs of him, one with my father as a toddler, & one with my grandmother, my dad on her lap, & my young uncle at their side before 7 tenants in my grandmother's boarding house in Franklin County, Tennessee, c. 1911.

My paternal grandfather C. (Christopher?) Sommers; my paternal grandmother Emma Elizabeth Schwartz Sommers; their infant son; and their second son, Christopher Sommers are buried at Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere (Franklin County), Tennessee. Christopher's and my grandmother's names are both misspelled on their grave markers.

Their third son, my father, Charles Wallace Sommers, was born September 2, 1908, at Belvidere, Tennessee. He died at Memphis, Tennessee, on February 7, 1987. He married my mother, Edna Caroline Kelly Sommers, not long before VE day in April, 1945, at Norfolk, Virginia. My mother was born September 3, 1908, at Kodak (Sevier County), Tennessee. She died October 13, 1998, at Memphis, Tennessee.
Both of my parents are buried at memorial park cemetery on Poplar Avenue at Memphis, Tennessee.
