Greetings from Louisiana!

Currently, I serve as the President of the Lewis Cemetery Association. I'm on the board of directors for Cryer Cemetery (Vernon Parish, Louisiana) and coordinate efforts with other cemeteries within a 30-mile radius of DeRidder, Louisana.

If you upload others' photos to Ancestry, please give credit to the respective photographers.

I only want to manage memorials of my relatives, some friends, and the relatives of a few friends. So I'm glad to transfer the virtual memorials that I've created to folks who know that person/family better than I know them.

My father was born in DeRidder, Louisiana in 1926. All four of his great-grandmothers (Malvina Neely Carroll, Lubencia Davis Eaves, Leah Cryer Williams, and Catharine Stephens Lewis) are buried within 25 miles of DeRidder, Louisiana. Three of my father's four grandparents moved from Mississippi in the mid-nineteenth century to present-day Vernon and Beauregard Parishes. Some thoughts and resources about them can be found at https://www.facebook.com/pioneerfamiliesinbeauregardandvernonparishes/. The patrilineal surnames most familiar to me are Carroll, Eaves, Neely, Nichols, Hennigan, Davis, Stephens, Cryer, Williams, Craft, Fletcher, and Lewis. Increasingly I study the families and communities that are represented in cemetery populations, especially those within a 30-mile radius of DeRidder. Among my mother's ancestors, I know Staples, Power, Young, Jones, Bowman, Hester, and Pipes. I am slowly but surely expanding my genealogical work to include my wife's parents' ancestry. I have attended Lewis, Staples, Sanders, and Clanton family gatherings. I encourage relatives and friends to join the Find A Grave community and contribute to the effort.

Lewis Cemetery's annual workday and reunion is on Easter Saturday. Cryer Cemetery's business meeting is the second Saturday in May. Cannon Cemetery's annual workday is the second Saturday in May. Schedule a time for us to walk around a cemetery together!
