Bio

I am currently working with Kym Hyson linking the memorial pages in The DVA Gardens of Remembrance to the related burial or interred ashes. Kym has been working on photographing, linking and uploading to DVA many of the 35,000+ plaques. If you have photos of DVA memorials you can upload them following their instructions on their website.

If you do links and havent read this you need to: Bio field and other updates in the News linked at the bottom of all pages.

The value of an unmarked grave is just the same as one with a fancy headstone. The site is Findagrave not Findaheadstone or Findaplaque. Please take a photo of any grave you can identify, regardless of the condition. The full grave, marked or unmarked, then a close up of any markings. Why take one photo when you can take a maximum of five.

If you are purloining them from other websites just stop! It's not clever it's breaching copyright unless you took the photo.

A group of us started in 2021 at Pinnaroo and took a photo of every grave. We then moved on to Lutwyche and other cemeteries. When doing 100s of photos a day in a lawn cemetery we don't usually take multiple photos - the aim is to get the names up and if you want a better photo please ask. There are lots of volunteers in most cemeteries I do. A couple of more photos is never any trouble.

Bald Hills Cemetery
I have compared the online register to the memorials on Findagrave and added about 600 entries that were not previously on Findagrave.

Gungahlin Cemetery
I have compared the current online register to the entries on Findagrave and added all the missing entries I can find. The online register is not complete (mostly the baby listing are missing). The cemetery is extremely helpful if you have any queries.

Lutwyche Cemetery
A group of us commenced photographing every grave in March 2022. Eighteen months later and nearly every single grave has a photo.

Lawnton Cemetery - has a photo for every grave we identified from the online records mid 2022.

Great Northern Garden of Remembrance
I completed taking photos of all current memorials in GNGOR as at early Feb 2022. It is difficult to update further as there is no online record of interments.

Caboolture and Districts Lawn Cemetery
Every burial up to the end of 2022 has been photographed. I follow up on burials with no plaque or inscription for the deceased on an irregular basis.

Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery has a photo for all known and existing memorials - the last ones being done Mar 2022. Each grave has only 1 memorial plaque, which is generally updated when further interments are done. Volunteers call there regularly for photo requests.

Roma Qld -I have added the cemetery register as it was in 2020 and this has resulted in dupes that photos will probably resolve.

Cemeteries in Albury Council local area I found a lot of duplicate memorials in the wrong cemeteries and organised them to be merged to the right cemetery following the listings in the Albury online register. Only Glenmorus, Waugh Road and Albury Pioneer are covered in their online register available on the council website.

Norwood Park
I worked on eliminating duplicates in Norwood Park after a bulk upload.

In all cemeteries many graves with multiple occupants have no inscription for additional interments after the original. There are numerous graves with no plaque at all. There are no unknown burials that we have detected.

I live in northern Brisbane, Qld, I am retired and randomly and erratically take photos of headstones.
