Bio

Born in Detroit (parents were also both born in Wayne Co., MI) in 1947, my family moved to Yreka, California, in 1957. By 1968, my family had settled in Sacramento where I remain today. I have no children and discovered that my, unknown to me, ancestral families might benefit by my looking into them. My ancestors became my children. My first little excursion resulted in a self-published booklet To Know Their Names, 1988

Most of my family research has concerned my mother's ancestry (Coupland, Goshorn/McNeal, Pitsenbarger/Fry, Mendenhall/Pearson, York/Slade) which resulted in a vast amount of information on the families of Darke Co., Ohio, where her mother's lines went back to before just before 1820 and some of those came to America as early as 1650. Her father came from Huntingdon Co.,PA, where his German/Irish families had settled before the Revolutionary War.

In the last six months I have finally, thanks to LDS FamilySearch and Find-A-Grave, begun to put together some background regarding my father's families. However, they all came to America after the Civil War speaking German and settled in western Wayne Co., MI (mostly Livonia). As I do not speak or read German, I will be unable to trace his lines back in time, but what I have found in America so far has been engrossing, to say the least.

Should anyone want more informatrion about my mother's ancestral families, PLEASE let me know. If any of you can contribute/share about my father's families or have ancestral information conerning the Garchows and Ludemans, I am, as they say, ALL EARS.
