I am an amateur genealogist who has spent most of the last two decades looking out, and collating, relatives. My two grandfathers were both only children, dying before my birth. My mother also an only child, and her mother died when I was very young. I grew up without any cousins - for the first decade of my life - second cousins being our nearest relatives.

My life's mission is to help connect people and so I conceived the National Lottery here in the UK, one of the primary aims of which was to safeguard our libraries, monuments and heritage - that was a very unpleasant argument with rather large repercussions which continue to this day, and probably will ad infinitum! I also envisaged the computerisation of the records of the English speaking peoples (and beyond), as Winston Churchill called us Anglo-Saxons ;), having conceived much of the hardware and software that powers the (mobile) internet - this I tend to keep to myself. Certainly most frequently used websites such as Ancestry, FindmyPast, FreeBMD and all county and National records offices here in the UK would not exist in their current form without the funding we created, so something I can truly feel proud about - twenty five years plus of HARD work by a lot of dedicated people. 46 billion plus reasons why I am NOT a greedy person :)

Although NOT particularly religious myself - even though my grandfather was a protestant priest/inter-denominational military chaplain (R.A.Ch.D), and his father a methodist at birth and mother a catholic :) - I believe in freedom of speech, and support the Church of the Latter Day Saints in their efforts to further our understanding of our personal heritage, although I do not share their religious beliefs, but hold that each may be able to worship whatever denominiation they see fit, without prejudice or bigotry.

As a lifelong Liberal (Democrat) I always think of the Voltaire misquote,"I wholly disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it".

Familysearch is a GREAT starting point and is well run by dedicated people.Verify, verify and verify again!

I am more than happy to add/edit/transfer management of virtual graves to closer genuine relatives at their request, if appropriate.

Circumstances dictate that I can be offline for considerable amounts of time (months), so please do not expect immediate responses.

Unlike most, it seems, I do make mistakes, so please let me know if there is anything you should like ammended/corrected. However, I accept NO responsibility for any errors, especially those made by others ;)

Henry Peasemolt Buttercup is not my true name, but that which my parents would tease me with as a child, saying it could be worse ;) :) :)

Crown copyright is respected in all my research.
