Bio

My name is John Michniak and I got involved with being a volunteer photographer for Findagrave because I saw the eagerness in my brothers face as he waited daily for someone to accept and fulfill his photo requests. Although I find genealogy to be interesting, I'm not quite as bitten as my brother is.

The hunt to fulfill the photo requests of others gives me a self satisfaction that I am doing my little part in genealogy and also putting a smile on the face of those eagerly waiting photos. It also gives my brother and I something to do together. All in all, it is a good thing and I do enjoy helping in any way I can.

If I accept your photo request, I will do my best to take the best picture possible and in a timely fashion. Just to let you know, as odd as it might seem, I do introduce myself, explain that I am there on behalf of a loved one or someone else who cares about them and is attempting to complete a Memorial for them. I clean the Headstone, take your photo and being Catholic, I do say a couple of Prayers prior to leaving. At all times as I look for and spend time at Grave sites, I use the most respect as possible.

UPDATE: Unfortunately my brother Richard died this past August. Our time together is now done in memory and reflection. My active participation as a volunteer photographer has come to an end. I do want to thank all of you that ever responded to us with kind words regarding photos we may have taken. I also want to apologize to anyone who we may have upset or were unable to complete requested assignments. My best always!

My best always, John Michniak
