Long ago and far away, my grandmother took me to the 'Old Cemetery' in Wivenhoe, Essex, England. Her mother was buried there and so were many other members of her family. All of them Harveys.

I insisted on returning to that magical cemetery every time I visited her, and from that grew a love of family history, cemeteries and churchyards.

My grandmother didn't know to whom those graves belonged - she knew they were Harveys from the headstones, but not how they all fitted together. I've spent the last twenty years finding that out.
