Jan Goss is a 6th generation Hoosier of the 1st Swiss/German Goss family to settle in Indiana Territory in 1810 & and a 6th great grandson of the celibate, Swiss immigrant (Jakob Gass 1667-1749) arriving in Philadelphia in 1727. Sixth great grandfather Jakob was known as "brother Jethro" and twice served as prior to the celibate, order of Protestant monks called the Brothers of Zion at the Ephrata Cloister. After 26 years of exile in a very pleasant place 40 miles Northwest of Chicago, Jan has returned to his Hoosier roots. Presently residing in Indianapolis, he frequently returns to Morgan & Owen Counties in Indiana to visit family, friends and tombstones.
