Bio

I was born in Franklin County, Georgia, 14 June 1940. I became interested in genealogy through my sister, Jane Carson Milam. After her death I picked up where she left off on our family genealogy. After I retired and bought a computer, I realized how much more of the past can now be accessed through the web.

Currently I am Vice President of the "Franklin County Historical Society" Class of 2017. I am also on the board of the "Hebron Historical Society". I am now involved in placing memorials on "Find A Grave". If I can aid anyone in finding ancestors in this area I will be happy to help. Please abide by the "Find A Grave" rules and FAQ section. Adding a name just to see it in print is of no value to me or other researchers. Also, please do the "Family Links" whenever you add a memorial.

Note to funeral directors: Please add birth dates and proofread obituary announcements prior to publishing. Accuracy is appreciated in information sought by researchers. I reserve the right to edit suggestions from contributors for brevity, accuracy, and general readability.

Note to parents of small children: Based on a recent news item, please discourage children from playing on or near fragile cemetery monuments which can tip over with fatal results.

Note to Find A Grave Contributors: Everyone who lives, and dies, deserves at least a few words about their life and the links to spouse and parents. A name and birth/death dates are only part of the Find A Grave experience. Please see Charles Henry "Charlie" Richey #117573837 Memorial as an example of what can be found with a minimum effort. Please "dig deeper" for "The rest of the story."

Another note which is important for all Find A Grave Contributors and quoted from Find A Grave's "Frequently Asked Questions".

IS IT acceptable to add a memorial for someone who is still living? (FAQ's Answer) Please try to avoid it. In general we do not encourage adding memorials for individuals who are still living. You are always welcome to create a 'pre-need' memorial for YOURSELF, if you would like, PROVIDED that you have a pre-need headstone already in place in a cemetery. A memorial created AFTER DEATH will be preferred over a pre-need memorial. (P.S.,I see this rule violated often.)

Also, Please do not exercise your ability to add genealogical data to the "flower column". I think this is non-compliance with Find A Grave rules and intentions. An additional spouse(s) should be entered in the biographical area. Hyphenated names should never be used for additional spouse(s). Always be aware of camera angles and shadows to achieve the best camera image possible. An example of how not to photograph is seen in the memorial of (#161693676).

Note to everyone: Remember the "magic" words from childhood..."PLEASE" and "THANK YOU". Use them often.

"Some of the first settlers in York County, SC were Crockets, CARSONS, Erwins, Flemings, Martins, and Neelys. These early settlers were remarkable for their self reliance, sturdiness and intelligence. They were a strong, stern people, simple in their habits, God-fearing in their practices, upright in all their dealings, fearless advocates of the right and undying lovers of their country." ("A City Without Cobwebs" - Rock Hill, SC - Brown)

"Let this be recorded for a generation to come,..." Psalms 102:18a

"You shall live a long, good life, like standing grain, you'll not be harvested until it's time." "The Book" Job 5:26 (Eliphaz speaking to Job.)

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord--They do rest from their labors and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13

"They shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels..." Malachi 3:17

"How good and pleasant it is when the people of God live together in unity." Psalm 133:1

"Happy the man whose wish and care. A few paternal acres bound. Content to breathe his native air, in his own ground." - These words came from Alexander Pope and his ode on solitude.

"People who speak out of ignorance are the ones so easily confused by the truth."
