I'm a native of Florence SC, my family always enjoyed "grave hopping" as we drove around the state visiting ancestors. As I developed an interest in photography I always gravitated towards old churches and graveyards, in part because that is where the biggest, stateliest trees are.

In walking through Florence's Mount Hope I realized that the names on the stones are an index to the history of the City, and I have enjoyed looking up names in books by local historians Nick Zeigler and the beloved Dr. King.

I have added some of these names to findagrave.com and hope to transfer them over to their family members as they find this website.
Branches of my family include:
Wallace, Gregg, Pearce, Parker,Cannon and Harllee in the Mars Bluff/ Claussen areas of Florence County (Hopewell Cemetery).
Sallenger in Florence came out of Plymouth NC
Williams and Fulmer came out of Lake City SC (also Williamsburg County, Cottageville SC)
Mellichamp out of Charleston.
