A Dear Wish of Mine for Many Years has been to Record and Bring to Life the Inhabitants of the Gibson Cemetery. This small country cemetery is located in Bethel Township, McDonough County, Illinois.
I have walked the Gibson Cemetery many, many times over the years. I have recorded burials, obituaries, placement of headstones & markers, etc. during that time.
When I walked this Cemetery in 1980 and again in 1984 - during this time seven stones came up missing ! Fortunately I had the stones listed so I do have a record & at least these people will not be forgotten. Many of these residents are related to each other through marriage, etc. Many buried here are members of my family and the land around the cemetery was owned by my brother for many years and is now owned by his son. His daughter is taking various cemetery pictures so we can complete this project together. My parents, Albert Black and Agatha ( Coghill ) Black lived on this land for almost twenty years. Having Find-a-Grave Available has brought My Wish to Keep These People from Becoming Forgotten Come True !
