Bio

I have been interested in Genealogy since my grandfather, Thomas Spence Jr. asked me and my little sister to sing Scottish Songs. I was about 8 and she 6. His father, Thomas Spence Sr came to America and brought his mother Jane with him. He married Alice I. Darling and raised a large family. I contacted a relative in Montrose and we corresponded for years. I have helped and been helped to find relatives all over the U.S.A and Scotland. The most rewarding thing was to find the grave of my grt grt grandfather James Spence in Scotland. His brother, Andrew also. Oh how I wished I could tell my grandfather!! I have researched many branches of my family! Father and Mother sides. Belong to DAR...........have a patriot on both sides of the family. I didn't get to go to Scotland, but my son did and found all the addresses and brought photo's home to me. I have a copy of my family tree in the bank vault. I have over 41 big notebooks full of info. He says he will go back to see if there is a headstone for James. Any Advise? I don't include any data that I can not prove! A gentleman in Scotland looked to see if the grave I found in Scotland was James Spence, they had him listed as Spencer..........he sent me the information! I shall forever be grateful!
I now manage this grave. I can't list all the family names, too many. You will see some of my work on Find A Grave! I hope I have encouraged others to look for their family! It is amazing!!
