Am I Really Me?
I started out calmly, tracing my tree,
To find, if I could, the makings of me.
And all that I had was Great-grandfather's name,
Not knowing his wife's nor from whence they both came.
I chased him across a long line of states,
And came up with pages and pages of dates.
When all put together, it made me forlorn,
Proved poor Great-grandpa had never been born.
One day I was sure the truth I had found,
Determined to turn this whole thing upside down.
I looked up the record of one Uncle John,
Then found the old man was younger than his son.
But then when my hopes were growing quite dim,
I came across records that must have been him.
The facts I collected - they made me quite sad,
Dear old Great-grandfather was never a Dad.
I think someone surely is pulling my leg,
I'm not at all sure I'm not hatched from an egg.
After hundreds of dollars I've spent on my tree,
I can't help but wonder if I'm really me.

Hi, My name is Debra
Raised in small town in North Louisiana, Live in small town in East Texas.
I started searching for my Dad's family on ancestry.com and from there connected with findagrave.com This is were I found my grandmother (which I never met) where she was buried. My Dad never spoke much about his family. His mother died when he was very young. So I had little information to start with. Since then I have connected with a cousin and half Uncles that has giving me a little more information that has my tree growing. "Slowly" but growing. I made the decision to join findagrave as a volunteer to help others to find and see where there ancestor's are buried and contribute to adding memorials to this site. This is an "Awesome!" site to come to. I get such joy and a great connection when I visit my families memorial page. I love walking the cemeteries. It's like stepping into a different world, It gives me a sense of Peace.
So I continue my search of the Nelson's and hope to be of some help to others searching for their families. Shoot me an e-mail or leave me a message if I can help you in anyway I will do my best. Take care of each other and keep our loves ones that has passed on in memory forever...
Sincerely, grateful
