Bio

I became interested in genealogy following my father's death, when I found a several-page hand written family history in which he had identified the names, marriage dates, and birth and death dates of many family members and ancestors. While doing family research on both my own family and my wife's family I came across the Find-A-Grave website. My efforts are modest compared to other contributors, but I continue to add related family members on a regular basis and to link them up with other members' contributions whenever possible.

My genealogy interests include the Scott family of Washington County, Pennsylvania; the Hawkins family from England, Maryland and Washington County; the Rogers family of Maryland and Washington County; the Crawford family of Maryland and Washington County; the Shepler family from Germany, eastern Pennsylvania and Washington County; the Shannon family from Ireland and Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; the Hutton family of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Allegheny County; and the Keibler family from Germany, eastern Pennsylvania, Armstrong County and Allegheny County.

Due to a somewhat unusual family situation – my spouse's maiden name was the same as my last name – much of my genealogical efforts have been directed to determining whether there were links between her Scott ancestors and mine. Back to at least 6 generations on each side no connection has been found.

Her Scott ancestors have been traced to Kentucky with subsequent stops in Iowa and Kansas. Others researched on her side include the Blankenship family also from Kentucky and Kansas; the Cooper family from England, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Kansas; the Wilson family from Kentucky, Illinois and Kansas; the Daniels family from New York, Wisconsin and South Dakota; the Burnett family from Kentucky, Indiana and Kansas; the Viney family from Virginia, Iowa and Kansas; and the Clingan family from Ireland, Pennsylvania and Kansas.
